Where did all the people go? aka WTF?

One of our web sites was getting more visitors every day since it’s launch. It was well optimized and nearly 90% visitors came from Google. Than one day everyrhing stopped. No warnings, no spams, no blocks, just stopped. We sweeped everything, did more optimizing, removed some content, followed few tips, and we were on our way. Visitors started comming back. This lasted only for a few days, when we were brought back down. Again, no fault actions, no bad content, nothing. I wish Scooby Doo can help us sort out this mistery.

In this video, Google developer demonstrates Android cloud-to-device messaging. Google decide to give this technology for free, even some API’s.

Awesome presentation of Google voice translate. Where you speak in English into the phone, and application translates to french (text and voice). This is really a cool feature that has the ability to change the world.

It is very difficult to pick sides, but feel free to draw your own conclusions.  Also, there is a Steve Jobs note addressing the Flash issue. It’s in the footer, so I almost missed it. I am glad I didn’t and I encourage everyone to read what Steve Jobs has to say on the issue. After all, it is necessary to read both parties before taking sides. Google on the other hand has clearly supported Adobe with Android. They have already demonstrated how well Flash works on Android.

I am puzzled how a company with operating income of 1.028 billion is literaly terrified of losing the mobile market. Apple and Google are doing revolutionary jumps to cover ground, and what is Adobe doing? They should create some ground breaking language (like some sorth of a Flash for mobile) instead of just crying outside and begging Apple and Google to let them in.

I mean, have you seen the prices of Adobe products? And Google, that gives up everything for free has to save their sorry assess with Android? Ridiculous. Regardless what Incredible Jobs says, Apple is a closed company. And with banging down the doors of iPhone finders, they are becoming the Big brother company. The same big brother company that was their enemy 30 years ago.

My conclusion

Flash is definitely an old language that needs refreshing if it wants to enter the mobile arena. Adobe is rich enough to get a solution on their own. Apple shouldn’t have slammed the door on Adobe, but also, they don’t really need to do as lift their finger in supporting it. Apparently, Google choose to support Flash. Steve Jobs thinks that this will undermine their quality. This is very familiar to me, and I will compare this (as always) with the SAME situation 20-30 years ago. Does Windows crash all the time, have BSOD, viruses, etc? Does Mac have any of those? Jobs says, that Flash is the biggest problem mac has… Will history repeat once again? Good luck Google Android with Flash.

Testing another iPhone app for editing WordPress blogs, originaly from WordPress and so far it’s great. But, nevermind that. I wanted to write a little bit about this months big news, Google Apps Marketplace http://www.google.com/enterprise/marketplace/home

Google apps is a market size of about 25 million users and of about 2 million companies some of them in the fortune 500 list. What Google now made possible for other web development companies is to use their apps API-s, and their platform to create new Apps for existing Google Apps users. I believe this is a great move, and I am hoping this to become a big platform for other apps to grow.

So now you can create an app using Google calendar, gtalk, google documents, perhaps soon Google wave and present it to the growing Google apps users, which I believe is a great opportunity.

I just recently noticed that i didn’t have any Microsoft products installed on my Iphone, and probably there are no Microsoft products on Google Android or Google Apps marketplace. Although I do hear some positive feedbacks on Bing as the latest Microsoft bi(n)g thing So I am really curious where is Microsoft focusing it’s strenghts beside the awesome Windows 7.

I wanted to find out more about this change but I couldn’t find anything about this. However I found a text where someone wrote that AT&T removed Google search from Android? I am not sure how this is even possible…

Also, a very interesting story where Bing used Facebooks platform for brand advertising. If users became a fan of Bing’s Facebook Page by clicking on a sponsored ad on the bottom right of the FarmVille main page, they’d receive 3 Farm Cash (FarmVille’s virtual currency). The effort was apparently successful, as Bing’s page went from slightly more than 100,000 fans on Monday to more than 500,000 as of earlier today. Now at almost 600,000.

Picnik has frequently been praised as one of the best online photo editors available, featuring in the Daily Telegraph here, and predates the current offerings from rivals such as Aviary and Photoshop.com.

Iskreno, kada sam vidio da je picnik.com kupljen, mislio sam odmah pod zanimljive web stranice staviti Aviary, da malo to pogledate, ali sada više nema smisla kada Daily Telegraph kaže da je picnik.com bolji… No eto, zato ih je Google kupio. To je nova Googleova trupa na foto terenu, nakon Picase. Google Picasu obožavam! Ne koristim je online, ali lokalno mi stvarno puno pomaže i u poslu i privatno.

02.09.2008. Is the date I uninstalled Opera, Safari, Firefox and IE. I had them all. But now I am chearing, go Google, go Chrome!

Now I am waiting for the latest Apple keynote (09.06.2008) to see what will they have now in stores for us. Supposedly iPhone 3G version, with a solar recharger? I just wanna see the price impact on other devices (older iPhone, and iPod touch) and then we’ll probably buy one or two (cant wait). Actually I would really like to get my hands on one of those Android thingies I am keeping an close eye on them, and they are suppose to ship late this year. Probably on Christmas shopping spree.

But what about the WiFi coverage in Rijeka, Croatia? And other people in Croatia, how many will use those devices?
