The Secrets Of Internet And Online Marketing

by: Wayne Van Dyck
There are a plenty of things you can do online and of all the things you can do online, there is one that you should definitely know how to do. MARKET YOUR OWN BUSINESS ONLINE!

Now with the incredible power of the Online World to reach millions of people, online marketing is definitely an amazing tool that every business should utilize. The simple fact that advertising is can be very low cost and sometimes even practically free. The ability to get the results of thousands of dollars in free publicity is practically unheard of in the business world today. Only recently have more and more people figured out how to utilize the ever exploding online world to market their business ventures.

There is probably isn’t a business in existence that wouldn’t benefit from free publicity! The fact that properly utilizing free and low cost advertising raises net profits to unbelievable levels! Using any or all of the major online services can help you market your business efforts.

Let’s begin with plain advertising. For example, on AOL, they will let you place classified advertisements for free! They have a variety of classifications and categories to choose from. By placing some of these free ads you can generate some very quality leads that can turn into sales. If you are an excellent marketer you could sell something straight from your free ad.

There are other services that offer free advertising from time to time. When they do charge for classified ads it is usually a very low cost, and they are still a great deal considering how many people may see them. When you place any ads you should always “track” your ads. This means put something in each individual ad that will tell you, if you get any business from it, which ad it came from. This way, you will probably find that some sections are better producers than others, and you will want to concentrate on these sections and not the ones that weren’t making any money.

To track an ad you could make them request a certain “report” for more information. You should give each report different tracking links for each ad. Such as: “ask for report #1tv” , this way you would know that this request came from the ad on television, for sale category, and so forth. If they send you an order straight from the ad, make them give you an order #, which would be different for each ad. THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO ARE ADVERTISING ONLINE ARE NOT USING THESE AD CODES!!! THIS IS A MAJOR MARKETING MISTAKE!!!

If you do not track exactly which ads are making money, then you are wasting your time by continually placing ads in “loser” categories that don’t provide any sales. ALWAYS keep track of every ad you place. Make a note of what it said, where and when it was placed. You will be pleasantly surprised when you analyze your “ad data” and see some positive trends developing. Just repeat these trends and it will help you to make more money!

Wouldn’t you like to have a name list of several hundred (or even thousand) people who might be interested in the particular product or service you are selling based on their jobs or interests? Wouldn’t that be great!? Well, you can! And the Online Services supply this service as a part of your regular membership.

This little unknown tool is called the “Member Directory!” You can do searches in the directory for other users with certain characteristics. For example, if you were selling fishing equipment, you could do a search by “fishing.” All of the people that were registered in the directory and had listed fishing as one of their hobbies would show up on that search list. You could now send each one of those people an e-mail message telling them about your product or service, it’s just like using a mailing list, but you have no postage! (*Make sure you check with your online service to see if they allow unsolicited email.)

The bottom line is that you “test” and record the results of your Online Marketing efforts. Then just repeat the steps that are making you money and expand on them to reach more people. You should conduct split-testing on your site. A method were you have two different pages, performing the same function but with different copy so you can tell which one is converting better.

You will also find hundreds of articles on the World Wide Web. By searching one of the WWW search engines like Webcrawler you can find all the information you can read. Use search strings such as: “online marketing”, “internet advertising“, “selling online“, and so on.

You can also find many books on the subject at your local bookstore or being advertised online.

The Ultimate Internet Marketing Strategy Every One Should Practice

by: M.Planet Lubowa
Every successful online marketer says this is the bar-none, top-of-the-list, number one way to guaranteed success for any online venture.

What Is it?

Any marketer knows that nothing beats word of mouth advertising. It is simply the most powerful and cost effective advertising ever known. Even before the days of the Internet. Word of mouth advertising got every business where it is today.

Many entrepreneurs never have and never will spend money on advertising. Their entire business comes from people telling other people about their product or service.Could you imagine never spending money on advertising, but always having a steady stream of customers on your door step begging for your product or service.

This word of mouth is what we call viral marketing.

However, word of mouth does not come easily. There is one catch to running a business only on word of mouth advertising. You must be selling an outstanding product or service. If you sell crap, the only word of mouth advertising you’ll have is negative.

I’m sure you’ve heard the expression before. A satisfied customer will tell three people about your product or service, an unsatisfied customer will tell ten.

If your customers aren’t happy you’ll have to work ten times harder and spend more money on advertising to sell your product.

There are two ways you can benefit from positive word of mouth. These are:

1. It’s free advertising. This is self explanatory. The less you have to spend on advertising, the more money you can put in your pocket and back into your business.

2. People are endorsing your product or service. Having someone endorse your product puts you at a greater advantage. When someone tells their friend about the positive experience they’ve had with your product, there is instant trust. People trust their friends. If a friend says your product is it, they’ll instantly trust you. Trust is a huge barrier to break down when it come to selling anything, online or off.

The one way I have found to work well with positive word of mouth is list building.List building by refering like ten people from your own effort and then these ten will go on to build your list up to a big size.

To give you an idea of how powerful word of mouth advertising can be in helping you to build your list, take a look below. Your list can grow exponentially without you ever even having to lift a finger again. This is a whole new way to LEVERAGE your efforts into a MEGALIST of monstrous proportions!

Let’s say you enroll SEVEN people from your paid advertising or any other form of advertising Seven is still pretty conservative for a completely FREE program… And let’s say each of those 7 also told 7 people and enrolled them, And each of those also enrolled 7 people and so on

That would look like this:

YOU
1×7 Members =7
7×7 Members =49
49×7 Members =343
343 x7 Members =2,401
2,401×7 Members =16,807

TOTAL: 19,607 Members

That is 19,607 subscribers you get to mail to! And you only referred seven subscribers yourself!

Want to run the example with 10 referrals each? (That’d be a whopping 111,110 subscribers!) Or 20? I

won’t even do the math on that one, because frankly, you wouldn’t believe the numbers!

You get the idea. More and more people just keep learning about your business all through friends and associates. And it’s all free advertising!

If you think the above numbers are a bit of an overstatement think again. Go to http://Google.com right now and do a search on Autoresponder Magic. Autoresponder Magic is an eBook that was written by Yanik Siler several years ago. More than 80,000 web sites advertise his Ebook on their sites right now for

FREE!

When Yanik started out several years ago he didn’t even know what an Ebook was. Today he has more traffic coming to his site in a day than most web sites do in a life time.

That is how powerful viral marketing is. Do not skimpon using it. You can set up your viral marketing system to build your list by using ebooks, writing free articles and others.

Want To Become A Super Affiliate Marketer?

by: Clarence Binayu
The humdrum existence of going to the office day after day doing the usual 8 to 5 shift is a trying task for those who have lived all their lives doing so. This is why the convenience of doing work at home under amazingly flexible working hours is a dazzling prospect to them. Doing work at home that is as fulfilling as having a career working for a computer on the 19th floor of a skyscraper is already a possibility in these modern times. This is because the jungle-like network that is the Internet has given birth to a business that has given some people practically new lives doing nothing but so.

This particular business allows people to work at home under flexible working hours. There is no boss to scream around putting pressure on everyone about the deadline at hand. There is no clutter of messy paperwork that needs to be completed the soonest possible time. Conveniences such as these are experienced by those who are into affiliate marketing, the newest way to earn money without having to go through all sorts of routine found in regular employment.

Those who have been in the business long enough can attest to the fact that it is a lucrative business indeed, one that can actually give people things that they could not possibly possess or experience under ordinary circumstances.

The business called affiliate marketing involves an affiliate’s promotion of a merchant’s website. Here the website owned by the affiliate is made to advertise and market the website of the merchant through the affiliate program that they run. Whenever someone clicks on the merchant’s website promoted by the one owned by the affiliate, the affiliate is given a commission. This is in recognition of his effort in helping the merchant make a sale.

The system involved in affiliate marketing seems easy, but it also takes a lot of diligence and perseverance for one to be able to penetrate it thoroughly. Those who want to get into this type of business should possess the necessary skills to be able tread through the industry with confidence and self-assurance. Still, other factors are needed by one to be able to really break in. Knowledge about the business at hand is very important as it dictates the actions that are to be done by people who are into it.

The leading figure in affiliate marketing is the super affiliate. He or she is basically an e-mail marketer who collects large databases of e-mail addresses through newsletters. Super affiliates are also those who know the business even better than affiliate managers as a result of their knowledge about the affiliate marketing industry inside out. Those who want to be super affiliates should know that becoming a super affiliate is not easy, because it takes a lot to be able to master the marketing craft.

Becoming a super affiliate means having one’s own website and auto responder. These tools will help a lot in one’s facilitation of the business. Building one’s own list is another. Creating a loyal customer base and taking care of it is one secret that successful super affiliates have. Making good customer relations is also important if one wants to be a super affiliate to reckon with.

Continuing to market to the people on one’s list is another must if one wants to succeed as a super affiliate. Sending out quality content in lieu of ads is an advantage as products are marketed better whenever enough information is given about them.

Building traffic to one’s own site is also one of the most essential points in the affiliate marketing business. Making one’s affiliate links his own business will allow him to build a strong relationship with his customers, enabling him to market to them over and over again.

The most important thing one should remember if he wants to become a super affiliate is to treat affiliate marketing as a business first and foremost. If he is capable of doing this, then he will never have to go back to the humdrum existence of working the 8-5 shift. A career as a super affiliate in the business, which will change his life forever, could possibly take that unexciting job’s place.

Internet Marketing Strategy Planning - The Eight Steps Formula

by: Alvin Phang

Before you decide what to sell on the internet. You have to develop an Internet Marketing Strategy that is the essential part of your online success on the Internet.

You have to take into consideration the following:
1. Find a large and easy to reach niche market
2. Find a Product or Service the niche market demands for!
3. Setup your website
4. Have a great sales copy (your 24/7 sales man)
5. Create an opt-in page to collect email address
6. Have a great sales process
7. Make your website scalable and search engine friendly
8. Backend, backend and backend

Each step plays an important to your success in your Internet Marketing Strategy Planning. If even one step is miss out you will not be able to see the results you would like to see as each step is equally important to each other.

1. Find a large and easy to reach niche market

Your first step in your Internet Marketing Strategy planning requires you to do your research and find a large and easy to reach niche market to market your product. What you can do from here is that you go to Free Keywords tools and search for niche keywords that have high click through and low competitions.

Example the keyword “Dog Food For Sale”, when you search that on Google there are actually 5,650,000 which is seriously not a lot of competition but you also have to check is there a demand for it by using tools from www.seobook.com to look at the KEI rate. The higher the KEI rate the better the keyword.

2. Find a Product or Service the niche market demands for!

After you have found 2 or 3 keywords that you would like to target on, you would want to find products that will serve the market that demands for it.

Example like the keyword “Dog Food For Sale”, you would not want to promote Cat Food as it is totally not related to the topic you want to promote about. So find related products like an eBook “where to find great sale for dog food” or dog products that dogs like to eat.

3. Setup your website

After you have decided what product or service you want to sell online, you would want to setup a website to promote your product. The best way to do it is by creating a Blog talking nothing but Dog Food that are for Sale. Because Google and Yahoo search engine loves Blogs so much that you virtually get listed just 24 hours upon updating compared to a normal website, which will take at least a few weeks to be cached into the search engine.

4. Have a great sales copy (your 24/7 sales man)

Do not be mistaken, sales copy is not the sale. A sales copy is a page with descriptions and details to promote your product on your website. When I first heard of this term sales copy I was totally stunted how important it was to have a sales copy.

Depending how good your copy writing skills are, you can get people to write your sales copy or simply teach yourself to write one. If you can try to write it yourself as copy writing is a very good skill to learn especially when you are an Internet Marketer who plans Internet Marketing Strategy.

5. Create an opt-in page to collect email address

This is another important step that many do not have and its the most important. Why? It is because they fail to collect email address from their website. With the email address you can design out your sales process in the next step which I will explain further.

6. Have a great sales process

With your opt-in page in place, you can used the captured email address and name to follow up with people who are interested to know more about what you are promoting in your opt-in page. This way build you list of email list and keep sent them information or promotion products to sell those products again in the future.

7. Make your website scalable and search engine friendly

With all that done, you would now need to read up on Search Engine Optimization. Practicing this will allow search engines like Yahoo and Google to spider your website easily. The good thing about Blogs is that you can ping the search engines to spider your site easily and you can listed very quickly within 24 hours.

8. Backend, backend and backend

Upon completion of all 7 steps, you just need to keep on sent backend information to your list from your opt-in emails that you receive and keep on driving traffic your opt-in page to get more email address to sent out promotion to your customers.

If you constantly follow these 8 steps formula for your Internet Marketing Strategy Plan, you will see great massive results after 3 months upon you have setup. So do the math and start planning your Internet Marketing Strategy today!

Can Anyone Make $150-$200 A Day From Using Articles?

by: Shane Hunte

Why is article marketing so great and why do the greatest marketers on the planet employ this method of marketing?

The greatest will always remain in the front seat because they know what works. The fact that they continue to use article marketing as one of their main methods of marketing shows, well you guessed it, article marketing works for them.

The possibilities for your articles are endless and it’s an investment of time and not money which makes it cost effective as well. All you need is patience and commitment and you will succeed with this marketing method.

The greatest marketers use this method because:

It’s cost effective. Actually let me tell you plan and simple, there is no cost to do this, it is absolutely free. It builds credibility and expert status on the internet on any subject there is under the sun. It drives floods of traffic to you promotions. You reach a laser targeted audience with you articles.

This method has been proven to give you quality back links to your website and subsequently raise your website rankings, which equals more traffic.

These are just previews of the wealth that article writing can bring to you. Although these aren’t all the reasons, these should be enough reason for you to use this method of marketing.

The most successful people have one thing in common they copy the best, as we can see, the best marketers all said yes to article marketing as one of their most frequently used internet marketing methods.

What is the magical blue print for writing articles like the big guns?

Here is the step by step blue print that the greatest use to build their articles at lightening speed:

Step 1. Plan your article

This may sound elementary but very few people can write articles and skip this step completely. When you plan your article it makes it easier to write on the topic that you choose. You need to dedicate time for this step because it’s the doorway for the other steps to follow.

Step 2. Brainstorm your article topic

What are you going to write about and why? Do people want this information? Can you solve a problem that others have? Asking yourself these questions coupled with a little research can get you a long way.

Step 3. Brainstorming your article points and organizing them.

So you have a good topic, now what are the points that you want to discuss on that topic? Organize these topics into the order in which you want to hit on them first then expand on it.

Step 4. Write selflessly about the topic to give quality information to your readers.

This often separates the good from the great. People want information that helps them solve a problem. We usually get the wrong idea with this form of marketing and dive into a sales letter for a product we promote. You’re not promoting a product right now, you‘re trying to build your credibility in the minds of readers.

This will make them trust you more and be more open minded to your recommendations for your promotions. Not only will it turn off readers, it also turns off publishers to post your articles on their sites because it isn’t of value to their website traffic.

Step 5. Double check and triple check your article for mistakes.

You don’t want your articles to be filled with spelling errors and other minor or major mistakes because this will make people not like your writing.

Publishers will review your pieces and if multiple errors are found, then it will not be submitted to their audience.

Print out the article, read it aloud and pass it to a close friend to read it for you and give and objective opinion on what they think about your article. Two sets of eyes are better to find mistakes so use the feedback you get to write better.

Now that you have a simple blue print to follow consider using it to write articles. Article marketing is the life blood for many great marketers out there and you should make it part of your marketing plans. It continuously adds $150-$200 a day to the pockets of those who use it maybe that alone could be your motivation to try.

The Most Powerful Tool A Marketer Can Have

by: P.V. Reymond

In the Internet Marketing there are many tools that you can use in order to build your business or increase your income, you can find lot of software, books, videos, but you have to know how to use them.

Before you begin to use them you need to have clear many things, but there is a tool maybe you don’t know well, and it is the most powerful tool that we all have, it is the mind.

Nothing can compete with your mind then you have to use it well. With your mind you’ll be able to control everything. Did you know that Yoga experts can stop the beats of the heart or to have a surgery without anesthesia? Maybe someone doesn’t believe it but it is true and in Internet Marketing is the same, If you are using your mind in the right way you’ll get good results and you’ll have a high percent to be successful.

In order to achieve your goals you need to be concentrated and have a clear vision of all the way you’ll have to travel. You have to create the conditions for a good concentration removing all marginal distractions possible and ignoring others.

It’s important to prepare a long term plan and divide it into levels and each level into a step by step process. Once you get level one you go to level two and so on. In all this system your mind plays a fundamental role because there is not software able to build your system, you are the only one that can build it, because you know what you want and where you want to go and this is the point, your mind is your guide it controls the whole process and it’s stronger than any other tool you can have.

The essential thing is to maintain an attitude of mental activity, and to avoid anything that will reduce this and make you passive. Thinking and applying systematically will help you to grow, you’ll discover the power of your mind. Train your mind.

Don’t be afraid to make a mistake. Remember nobody learns from the mistakes of the others, you have to try and believe in you. Such fears should be put at rest. You only have to think, think and think and in this way you’ll learn how to act and how to do everything right.

It’s obvious that you’ll have to face some problems traveling for your road, then your mind will come to help you and you’ll find the solution in a short period of time. A powerful mind accomplishes results in the shortest time and with least waste motion.

In order to be successful in Internet Marketing you have to focus your niche and to pay close attention to it. Ask yourself, what am I looking for? Keep it in the background of your mind and search for the answer. Knowing everything about you and about what you want, will help you to develop your business.

Keep your mind free, keep a sharp lookout, at every point, to see that you build into the foundation only those materials and that workmanship which will support a masterly structure.

Everyone has difficulty in the concentration of attention, workers in business and industry, students and even professors, complain of the same difficulty. Attention seems in some way to be at the very core of mental activity. Therefore paying attention to your niche and working only in this direction is crucial.

Using your mind as a tool is the most effective factor to be successful.

Grab Attention With Your Headlines

By Charlie Cook

You’ve got just a few seconds to grab your prospects’ attention, spark their interest and motivate them to keep reading whether they’re looking at your web site, your letter or your brochure. Headlines are the first thing your prospects read. Four out of five people determine whether they keep reading to learn about your products and services on the basis of your headline.

Do your headlines capture your prospects’ attention or do they confuse them and send them away?

Avoid the three following headline mistakes.

1. Don’t Emphasize Obscure Company Names

The names of most small businesses aren’t household words. Unless your name is among the most recognized brands such as, Craftsman, Waterford, Rolls Royce, the Discovery Channel, WD-40 or Crayola there is a good chance people won’t associate your company name with anything.

Have you ever visited a web site or read a print ad where the company’s name covered the top part of the page and it was something like, Pharos Partners? Unless the name of your company describes what you do, it is not going to grab prospects’ attention. Move it to the side and make room for a creative headline.

2. Avoid Welcome Statements

On many web sites the first line you read is, “Welcome to our Site”. There is a reason you don’t see these in print ads. Welcome statements are a waste of time in marketing materials; they do little to help prospects understand what you do.

3. Delete Vague Descriptions and Statements

Statements like, “Our purpose is to connect you with information and resources to achieve your maximum potential”, could apply to a number of different professions. It could refer to a cooking school, a management consultant or an eldercare program.

Does your headline include business speak your children or mother-in-law can’t explain?
Is your description of product and services specific or is it so generic that it could apply to other types of businesses?
Does your headline focus on the selling points that distinguish your products and services from the competitions?
Writing Headlines that Get Your Prospects’ Attention People look at web sites the same way they look at magazine ads. They scan the page quickly to see if the product or service is something they want. On the web or in a marketing brochure, if you capture their interest, they’ll keep reading.

The best way to do this is to give them a clear idea of the problems your products or services can solve and/or the benefits you provide. Use a few carefully selected words such as:

- Leverage your expertise to attract a steady stream of clients
- Reliable Office Supplies, free next day delivery.
- In-home sports training for exercise enthusiasts
Web and print design that helps your business grow
- Costa Rica Travel, Unique off-the-beaten track tours to jungles and beaches
- Your page headline should communicate clearly what you offer clients, which problems you solve and the benefits you provide.

Do your headlines:
Clarify what you do?
Describe the problems you solve?
Define whom you do it for?
Explain the benefits?
Emphasis a key selling point?
Compel your prospects to keep reading?
Imagine that you worked at an exercise facility and wanted to attract clients for your massage business. Here are some possible headlines you might use for your flyer and associated critiques.

- George Jenkins Massage (It’s your name but so what).

- Are You Bothered By Back Pain (Better, it defines the problem)

- 7 Ways to Get Instant Back Pain Relief (Defines the problem and a solution)

- How Computer Users Can Banish Back Pain in One Hour (Defines who your target market is, the problem and the benefit).

Grab your prospects attention in the first few seconds with your headline. Then follow with compelling copy that clarifies the value of your products and services and you’ll generate many more sales.

Is Your Ezine Being Zapped?

By Michael Southon

About a year ago I wrote an article titled ‘Winning The War On spam’. Unfortunately, the war on spam is not being won at all.

In fact, the problem is now so serious that spam is shaping up to be the greatest threat to online marketing.

The threat comes not from spammers themselves, but from the filters that are being used to block them.

These filters are hitting hard at the very core of ecommerce - Ezine Publishing.

Anti-spam filters operate at two levels: (i) client-side programs that reside on individual computers and (ii) server-side programs that ISPs are using to block incoming spam.

The problem is that the filters are now so sensitive they are blocking even the most innocent of Newsletters.

For example, if your Newsletter contains the words ‘remove’, ‘unsubscribe’ or ‘click here’ it will trigger anti-spam filters in many of the programs that are now being used by ISPs.

The result?

Your Ezine is zapped, deleted - and a large percentage of your subscribers will think you have stopped publishing your Newsletter.

What can you do about it?

Here are some tips to avoid spam filters:

(1) Post your Newsletter online and then email your subscribers to tell them that the latest issue is now available online.

(2) In your Newsletter carefully avoid (both in the subject line and the body text) all words that are likely to trigger anti-spam filters. Use the free service listed at the end of this article - it will flag any words in your Newsletter that trigger anti-spam filters.

(3) Instead of saying ‘to unsubscribe’ (which is a phrase commonly found in spam), say ‘If you no longer wish to receive…’ or ‘If you wish to leave this mailing list…’ or ‘To take yourself off this list…’

(4) If there are trigger words that you simply cannot avoid, you can disguise them using carets (^) or other symbols. The ‘F’ word would become fr^e and the ‘U’ word would become uns^bscribe.

(5) Include the word ‘Newsletter‘ in the subject line of your email - this will help the filters identify your email as non-spam.

(6) Avoid whole words in upper case. In many Newsletters the headers are capitalized - this will trigger the filters.

(7) If your Newsletter contains ads, scrutinize them carefully - ezine ads, by definition, contain words frequently used by spammers.

Here is a fr^e service that will help you avoid spam filters. Before you mail out your Newsletter, just send a copy of it to the email address below with TEST in the subject line: mailto:spamcheck@sitesell.net

Within a few seconds you’ll receive a report that analyses your Newsletter and gives you a score (0 to 5=no problems 12-16=over the limit for most ISPs).

If you write articles, it’s worth submitting them to this test as well, together with your Resource Box (spamCheck gave this article a score of 1.9).

spamCheck is operated by spamAssassin, a filter that is widely used by ISPs - so this is a good test of whether your Newsletter will get through to your subscribers.

Michael Southon has been writing for the Internet for over 3 years. He has shown hundreds of webmasters how to use this simple technique to get massive free publicity and dramatically increase traffic and sales. To find out more, visit: http://www.ezine-writer.com

Email Marketing: The End Of a Good Thing

By W. Lee Steele

Admit it. You’re constantly deleting dozens, if not hundreds, of unsolicited email messages everyday. And you’re not even opening these spam emails to read them before you hit the “delete” button, right?

At the beginning of the Internet craze, only a few short years ago, there was an unwritten code of ethics that everyone adhered to. An individual’s email address was sacrosanct. Unsolicited junk mail was a serious violation of online culture. Only email that pertained to a specific subject or topic was sent to individuals who had chosen to “opt-in” to a mailing list devoted to that topic. Now, everyone with an email address (currently 54% of the U.S. population) is a target for spam.

Personally, I don’t need to “save 40% on my long distance calls” or “increase the size of my (choose a body part) by 50%” or “get a college diploma for $29.95″. Yet, I continue to receive an avalanche of unsolicited, and unwanted, email sales pitches like these every day (and night). And, no, I’m not interested in “seeing Britney Spears N.A.K.E.D.” either.
If I were seriously considering buying a new coffeemaker, cell phone or garden hose, I’d actively go searching online for these products or pick one up on my next trip to my neighborhood store. I certainly wouldn’t be sitting back and passively waiting for some unknown person to send me an email offer.

So what if you can buy a zillion email addresses for only $99.00? No one’s going to read your unsolicited offer anyway. And, if they did, would they want to do business with someone like you that they don’t even know or trust, and who solicits new customers by bombarding them with middle-of-the-night email spam?

Just last month, the Direct Marketing Association (www.the-dma.org) joined other groups in supporting new federal laws to regulate online spam. These new proposed laws seek to prohibit misleading subject lines and false sender names, as well as mandate that all unsolicited emails include a clear method for unsubscribing from the sender’s email list.

A better alternative strategy for your $99.00 would be to invest it in a reputable pay-per-click search engine (like Overture.com or Google.com) to get a higher search engine ranking result for your web site. For many popular search terms, paying a mere $0.50 per click will get you into the top 20 ranking. At $0.50 per click, you’ll get 200 interested, serious, qualified prospects to visit your site for your $99.00 investment. That’s certainly a better, and more desirable, result than you’ll get by sending out a zillion pieces of spam that no one’s going to read anyway.

Every experienced marketer knows that to be successful, you need to stand out in the crowd. Being one of 60 unsolicited emails in my inbox tomorrow morning isn’t going to do it for you. Following the crowd of spammers is just going to waste your money.

What Is An Affiliate Program?

by Azam Corry

You’ve heard all about them… what exactly are they? Affiliate or associate programs (sometimes called reseller or partnership programs) are usually pay-per-sale marketing programs based on the concept of revenue sharing.

“What?” You say?

OK, I’ll give it to you again … in English!

This where companies selling products or services online give you a cut of their profits (a share in their revenue) as a commission on any sales you create for them (i.e. pay-per-sale) by introducing new customers.

Though commission rates offered to affiliates vary widely, they are all normally based on the gross value (usually the selling price) of the product or service concerned …

… but watch out!

Some companies only pay you a percentage of their net profit after all deductions. That means they only pay you a percentage of what *they* decide is their profit after subtracting what *they* say are their costs …

Hmm … read the small print!

Affiliate programs have become very popular both with companies looking to increase sales and web sites wanting to generate some extra income. The first and most well known, Amazon.com has in excess of 100,000 members! Now hundreds of different programs from companies of all shapes and sizes compete for your attention … so you can and should be choosey!

In most cases all you need to do in order to join one of these programs is:

* Agree to their terms and conditions * Provide your contact information * Advertise their products or services * Link to their site using the unique URLs they provide to identify you.

“Money for nothing and….”

Not all affiliate programs require a sale to be made for you to get paid. WebSponsors for example, pay you when someone requests a free trial or sample of a product or service. This is a pay-per-lead program. You give them a lead and they pay you for it …

… simple really! :-)
It’s up to them to later convert the free trial into a sale. The commissions are smaller of course, but since the offers don’t cost the surfer anything, conversion rates are higher. For this reason low traffic sites may find this kind of program preferable to the pay-per-sale type, which require you to send far more visitors to get a “sale.”

All the clicks

There is another variant on the pay-per-lead model. This is the pay-per-click program. Here the company running the program pays you whenever someone clicks on their banner or link from your site. And guess what …

… these programs pay you even less!

Companies offering such programs generally weight their payment rates in favour of those sites that send the most clicks. The more clicks you send them, the higher rate per click they will pay you.

Some programs take this even further and adjust your payment rate according to the quality of clicks you send them. That is the percentage of conversions (i.e. sales) they get from the total number of clicks sent …

… you better hope they know how to sell!

In any event, unless you have a lot of traffic you’re probably looking at a paltry $0.01 to $0.10 per click … don’t spend it all at once!

For these programs to be worthwhile you really need a site with a highly targeted audience. If you then carefully choose products or services closely matched to their interests, from professional vendors (i.e. those that know how to sell) you can earn a reasonable amount. Providing that you have the traffic of course!
