.www deprecated?

Is it pointless to type www.duskic.com instead of duskic.com? Did you know that there is No-www movement?

You can find out more about them at no-www.org

 dep·re·cate (dep’ri-kat’):
To make invalid or obsolete by removing or flagging the item. When commands or statements in a language are planned for deletion in future releases of the compiler or rendering engine, they are said to be deprecated. Programmers should begin to remove them from the source code in subsequent revisions of their programs.

Bottom line is, if you don’t need it, why use it? This is simpler, faster, easier to say. Off course you can always loose second and a half saying double you, double you, double you. And then again, how many domains do you say, write, hear?

Trebate web stranicu?

Is data transfer close to the speed of light?

LOL, not yet. We just measured a ping between Paris and Washington (across the Atlantic Ocean). It took ping 86 milliseconds to perform the travel. Which means…

86 ms per 6147 km

8600 ms per 614700 km

8,6 seconds per 614700 km

1 hour= 60 minutes = 3600 seconds

3600 seconds (or 1h) / 8,6 sekundi = 418,60

614700 km X 418,60 = 257,313,420 km

257,313,420 km/h ping

1,079,252,849 km/h speed of light (source Wikipedia)

When can I register already registered (taken) domain?

Well you can always buy the backorder service that some providers offer. So it instantly snaps the domain the moment it’s available for registration. But when is the domain available again? Is the domain registered till a certain day, but you still can’t register it? This picture will clearly explain all the periods a domain goes through.

Internet usage, or as some call it penetration

Couple of days go I found a report, and there was an information saying Croatia has 38% of Internet usage. This report is for all Europe countries you can see the image below. I am not happy with this number at all, but I suppose it reflects the general picture in Croatia. But we need the Internet to advance in our country, and our country will advance from it. The goverment, media, medium sized and large companies must push forward! They need to invest in the IT sector, nobody is talking about this.
